J-AAR ACQUIRES CIVIL CONSTRUCTION DIVISION OF THE SEEGMILLER GROUP, AS THE SEEGMILLER GROUP CHARTS NEW PATH FORWARD
Nick Wilton • October 6, 2025

The Seegmiller Group will continue to focus on core business operations while positioning the company for strategic growth opportunities.

KITCHENER, ON | OCTOBER 6, 2025 — J-AAR Limited, a family-owned construction company with locations in London and Cambridge, Ontario, has acquired the heavy civil road construction operations of The Seegmiller Group of Companies. This transition allows Seegmiller’s construction employees to continue their work under J-AAR’s leadership, contribute to ongoing regional projects, and benefit from the shared strengths, experience, and future collaboration opportunities between the two organizations.

“We are excited to welcome the Seegmiller’s road building operations into J-AAR and continue delivering important infrastructure projects to the communities we serve,” said Ryan Aarts, CEO of J-AAR. “Like Seegmiller, we are a family-owned business with a commitment to our people and local communities. We look forward to building on their legacy and collaborating together in ways that strengthen our industry and communities.”

J-AAR is actively managing several infrastructure projects in Waterloo Region, including the new Dundee Roundabout, the Frederick Street reconstruction, and the new Cowan Recreation Centre on Huron Road.

“We have seen a lot of change in the industry in the last decade, and this transition positions the Seegmiller Group to align its businesses with opportunities that we see ahead,” said Nora Seegmiller, President of the Seegmiller Group of Companies. “My dad, Tim, has always believed that our people are our most valuable assets. We are proud to share our team with a company as vibrant as J-AAR and feel this step helps ensure a strong, successful future for the teams and communities we serve.”

Founded nearly a century ago, The Seegmiller Group is a fourth-generation, family-owned and led business that has been serving Ontario’s construction and aggregate industries since 1927. While E&E Seegmiller is known as one of the region’s most experienced full-service private construction companies, The Seegmiller Group will focus on new opportunities outside the civil road reconstruction industry, including aggregate supply, land development and specialized equipment repair.

“My family and I will continue to support J-AAR and are fully invested in the success of the civil construction operations now under their leadership,” said Seegmiller. “We look forward to seeing the team thrive and continuing the legacy of excellence they’ve built in the communities we all serve.”

The transaction is effective October 3, 2025, marking a new chapter for J-AAR as it takes on Seegmiller’s civil construction operations, and for Seegmiller as it focuses on new opportunities. Both companies remain guided by family-led leadership and a shared commitment to people, projects, and communities.

J-AAR is proud to continue its partnership with LiUNA Local 1059 through their Charity Partnership Program, making a meaningful difference in the community with a $5,000 donation to the Children’s Health Foundation. This initiative is part of a three-year commitment where LiUNA donates $5,000 annually on behalf of J-AAR to a local charity of our choice. Last year, the funds supported Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU), helping empower youth in our region with critical resources and programs. This year, we are honoured to direct the support to the Children’s Health Foundation, where the funds will help provide life-saving equipment, state-of-the-art care, and vital support programs for children and families across Southwestern Ontario. The cheque presentation took place on September 30, with representatives from LiUNA 1059, J-AAR, and the Children’s Health Foundation in attendance. It was an opportunity to celebrate the power of collaboration between industry and community, and to highlight the shared commitment to giving back. At J-AAR, our work extends beyond construction. We believe in building stronger communities by supporting the organizations that provide essential care and opportunities for the people of Southwestern Ontario.

J-AAR is proud to support Defeat Duchenne, Canada’s leading charity dedicated solely to funding research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). This year, our efforts included a company-wide Brown Bag Lunch Fundraiser, and thanks to the incredible generosity and teamwork of our staff, we raised an impressive $2,750 for the cause. Spearheaded by our Business Intelligence team, the event was a true example of collaboration across divisions. Volunteers stayed after work to thoughtfully prepare each brown bag lunch, while others visited various J-AAR sites to distribute and sell them throughout the day. We want to give a huge thank you to: - Our BI team for organizing and leading the initiative - All the volunteers who stayed late to assemble the lunches - Everyone who took time to travel to our sites and sell them - And of course, the entire J-AAR team for purchasing, donating, and supporting this meaningful cause Your efforts made a real difference and helped advance the mission of Defeat Duchenne, funding the research that will lead to better treatments and, one day, a cure for Duchenne. J-AAR is proud to announce the successful pour of the 30th and final floor of Centro Tower Two, marking a major construction milestone for this landmark downtown development. After years of coordinated effort, tight timelines, and precision execution, the final concrete pour took place earlier this month, bringing the second tower at Centro to its full height. This achievement represents not only the structural completion of Tower Two, but also a significant step forward in reshaping London’s skyline. J-AAR’s Structural Division has been leading the vertical construction on this tower from day one, working closely with Old Oak and the broader project team to deliver on schedule while maintaining the high standards of quality and safety that define every J-AAR build. Centro Tower Two is the second phase of the highly anticipated Centro development, offering a mix of modern residential units and amenity spaces in the heart of London. The tower’s contemporary design, expansive city views, and walkable location make it a standout addition to the downtown core. What's Next? With the structure now topped out, the focus shifts to envelope, interior finishes, and systems installation. Our team will remain on-site to support the next phase of construction and ensure a seamless transition from structure to occupancy. We’d like to thank everyone involved in helping us reach this milestone, from our field crews and engineers to our partners and suppliers. We’re proud to play a role in building the future of downtown London, one floor at a time.

We’re excited to share that J-AAR has officially broken ground on Phase 3 of the Yarmouth Yards project at the PowerCo site. This milestone marks the next chapter in a multi-phase build that has quickly become a standout collaboration between J-AAR and the City of St. Thomas. With phases one and two successfully delivered, Phase 3 is already shaping up to be another ambitious step forward. Last week, our team gathered alongside key stakeholders and project partners for a ground-breaking ceremony to celebrate the launch of this next stage. The event served as both a reflection on the progress we’ve made and a moment to look ahead at what’s still to come. So, what’s happening in Phase 3? This phase includes major site servicing, road construction, and additional civil infrastructure needed to support the City of St. Thomas' growing operations. Our crews are already mobilized, and activity on site is picking up quickly. As always, safety, efficiency, and craftsmanship remain our top priorities. The Yarmouth Yards project has already had a meaningful impact on the surrounding area. With each phase, we’re helping the City of St. Thomas push their long-term vision forward while creating jobs, strengthening infrastructure, and investing in future-ready spaces. We’re incredibly proud of the work done so far and even more excited about what’s ahead. Thanks to everyone who made this milestone possible. We’ll be sharing more updates as the build progresses, so be sure to follow along!

Marking a New Era of Community, Innovation, and Partnership
By Nick Wilton June 13, 2025
J-AAR was thrilled to participate in this year’s Canstruction event — a one-of-a-kind design-build competition that challenges teams to create massive, imaginative structures entirely out of canned goods, all in support of local food banks. This year, our team brought some fun to the construction site with our playful and creative build: two Minions constructing a giant banana, fittingly titled "Building a Better Banan-A-Hood." The design celebrated teamwork, community, and a little bit of silliness — all with a serious purpose: helping fight hunger in our community. Using thousands of cans, our team carefully crafted every detail to bring the Minions’ quirky charm to life. And our hard work didn’t go unnoticed — we were proud to take home the award for Most Cans Used , a testament to both the scale of our build and the impact we were able to make. Beyond the impressive visuals and well-earned recognition, every can used in our structure is being donated to local food banks to support individuals and families facing food insecurity. Canstruction gave us an opportunity to blend what we do best — construction, creativity, and collaboration — with our commitment to giving back. We’re incredibly proud of the effort, enthusiasm, and heart our team poured into this project. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this happen — from the design and logistics team to those who supported through donations, assembly, and teardown. And of course, to our fellow Canstruction participants who continue to make this event such a powerful and inspiring experience.
